Mission Statement
We at Move Them In and supporters of Long Beach Island (LBI), are deeply troubled by the misguided "Move Them Out" campaigns that aim to halt the development of safe wind energy projects in our region. We believe it is crucial to dispel the myths surrounding these campaigns and highlight the urgent need for clean, sustainable energy sources.
1. Climate Crisis: The world is facing an unprecedented climate crisis, with rising sea levels and extreme weather events threatening coastal communities like ours. Transitioning to renewable energy is essential in mitigating these risks and ensuring a sustainable future for the planet (AND LBI).
2. Dispel Myths: It is crucial to inform our community of the facts surrounding offshore wind farm development and prioritize Long Beach Island, New Jersey and the planet's long-term interests over baseless fears and misguided self-interests.
3. Environmental Impact: Contrary to popular misconceptions, offshore wind farms have minimal impact on marine ecosystems. Numerous studies have shown that properly designed wind farms can coexist harmoniously with marine life, including fish populations and migratory patterns. In fact offshore wind farms has been shown to increase biodiversity and biodensity.Â
4. Energy Independence: Relying less on fossil fuels means reducing our dependence on foreign oil imports while strengthening national security by diversifying our energy sources domestically through renewable options like offshore wind power.
5. Economic Opportunities: Embracing wind energy will bring significant economic benefits to our community. The construction phase alone will create thousands of jobs, stimulating local businesses and boosting our economy during these challenging times.
6. Tourism Boost: Long Beach Island's pristine beaches attract tourists from near and far each year. By embracing safe wind energy projects, we can enhance our reputation as an environmentally conscious destination while attracting eco-tourists interested in supporting sustainable initiatives.
7. Health Benefits: Traditional fossil fuel power plants emit harmful pollutants that pose severe health risks to both humans and wildlife alike. By transitioning to clean wind energy sources, we can improve our air quality, reducing respiratory illnesses among residents while safeguarding local flora and fauna.
We, therefore, urge local authorities, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to dismiss the misguided "Move Them Out" campaigns and actively support the development of safe wind energy projects on the Eastern U.S. Coast and Long Beach Island. By doing so, we can protect our environment, boost our economy, and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.
